SECURITY DISCLAIMER – SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS OF THE SERVICE
Please read this section carefully. It forms an essential part of your agreement with Trusti Security.
Trusti Security provides tools designed to help identify known plugin and theme vulnerabilities, monitor login activity, protect against brute force attacks, and strengthen certain aspects of your WordPress security configuration. We are committed to delivering the best possible product and make every reasonable effort to maintain an accurate vulnerability database and provide timely, actionable notifications.
However, the use of the Trusti Security Plugin does not and cannot guarantee the complete security of your WordPress website, server, hosting environment, or any data stored therein. No security product – including Trusti Security – can provide absolute protection against all possible threats.
WordPress website security involves a complex ecosystem of interdependent components, the vast majority of which are entirely outside the scope, visibility, and control of Trusti Security. These include, but are not limited to:
- WordPress core software – vulnerabilities, bugs, or misconfigurations in the WordPress core codebase itself
- PHP runtime environment – the PHP version installed on your server, PHP configuration files (php.ini), and vulnerabilities within the PHP language or runtime
- Web server software – Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed, IIS, or any other web server software, including its configuration, modules, and known vulnerabilities
- Hosting infrastructure – the shared or dedicated server environment, hypervisor, data center operations, network configuration, and the security practices of your hosting provider
- Operating system – the server’s underlying OS, its patch level, kernel vulnerabilities, and configuration
- Database software – MySQL, MariaDB, or any other database engine, including its version, configuration, and known vulnerabilities
- Other installed plugins and themes – any WordPress plugin or theme installed on your site other than Trusti Security, regardless of whether those plugins appear in our vulnerability database at the time of a scan
- Zero-day and undisclosed vulnerabilities – vulnerabilities that have not yet been publicly disclosed or added to any vulnerability database, including our own
- Network and SSL/TLS configuration – DNS settings, SSL certificate management, firewall rules, and network-level security configurations
- Third-party services and API integrations – external services connected to your website, including payment gateways, CRM integrations, CDNs, and any other third-party APIs
- Human factors – weak or reused passwords, social engineering, phishing attacks targeting site administrators or users, unauthorized access by individuals with legitimate credentials, and other actions by human actors inside or outside your organization
By installing and using the Trusti Security Plugin, you expressly acknowledge and accept the following:
- The Plugin is a security assistance tool, not a comprehensive or complete security solution. It is designed to reduce risk, not eliminate it.
- Vulnerability detection is limited to threats that have been publicly disclosed and added to our vulnerability database at the time of a scan. The Plugin does not detect zero-day vulnerabilities or threats that have not yet been catalogued.
- The effectiveness of the Plugin depends on your server environment, hosting configuration, WordPress setup, and your timely response to notifications and recommendations provided by the Plugin.
- Trusti Security bears no responsibility, and shall not be liable, for any security incident, data breach, unauthorized access, data loss, data corruption, business interruption, financial loss, reputational damage, legal liability, regulatory penalty, or any other harm of any kind – direct or indirect – that results from a vulnerability, attack, or compromise that occurred despite the use of the Plugin, including in cases where such an event exploited a component, system, or factor that is outside the Plugin’s scope of protection as described in this section.
- Trusti Security bears no responsibility for any harm arising from your failure to act on notifications, recommendations, or warnings provided by the Plugin in a timely manner.
This Security Disclaimer operates in addition to and does not limit the scope of the Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability sections above. All applicable sections apply cumulatively.
TRUSTI RADAR BROWSER EXTENSION – AUTHORIZED USE AND USER RESPONSIBILITY
Trusti Radar is a browser extension that performs automated security scans of WordPress websites. Because scanning a website involves sending HTTP requests to that site and querying third-party services, it is essential that users understand and accept their legal obligations before using this feature.
Authorization Requirement
You may only use Trusti Radar to scan websites for which you have explicit legal authorization to perform security testing. This includes websites that you own directly, or websites belonging to clients or third parties who have granted you written permission to conduct security testing on their behalf.
The ownership verification step (uploading a verification file to the web server) confirms that you have hosting-level access to the site at the time of verification. It does not, by itself, constitute legal authorization to perform security scanning on behalf of a third party, nor does it transfer any legal responsibility to Trusti Security.
User Responsibility for Client Sites
If you use Trusti Radar to scan a website belonging to a client or any third party, you are solely and exclusively responsible for:
- Obtaining explicit, documented consent from the site owner before initiating any scan;
- Ensuring that such consent is valid, informed, and complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction and the jurisdiction of the site owner;
- Retaining records of that consent and making them available upon request by the site owner, a regulatory authority, or a court of law;
- Ensuring that your use of Trusti Radar complies with any contractual obligations you have toward the site owner or any third party.
No Liability for Unauthorized Use
Trusti Security has no visibility into, and bears absolutely no responsibility for, how you use the Trusti Radar extension in relation to third-party sites. Trusti Security is not a party to any agreement between you and your clients, and shall not be held liable for any claim, complaint, regulatory investigation, fine, legal proceeding, or any other consequence arising from your use of Trusti Radar without proper authorization from the site owner.
By using Trusti Radar, you agree to fully indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Trusti Security and its directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from or related to your unauthorized or unlawful use of the extension, including any failure to obtain the required consent from a site owner prior to scanning.
Prohibited Use
You must not use Trusti Radar to scan any website without the authorization described above. Unauthorized scanning of third-party websites may constitute a criminal offense under computer fraud and abuse laws in many jurisdictions, including but not limited to the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) in the United States, the Computer Misuse Act in the United Kingdom, and equivalent legislation in other countries. Trusti Security reserves the right to terminate your access to the Service if we become aware of any unauthorized use of Trusti Radar.
GOVERNING LAW
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any legal action or proceeding relating to these Terms or your access to or use of the Service shall be instituted in a court of competent jurisdiction. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of such court.
CHANGES TO TERMS
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. We will provide notice of any material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the date at the top. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
By continuing to access or use our Service after any revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you are no longer authorized to use the Service.
